Classes are scheduled once per week for a 4 week session, and sessions start at the beginning of each month. Session tuition is $255 each month for the 4 lessons, and the session is pro-rated if you start your lessons mid-session. There is also a non-refundable $60 per family registration fee at the time of enrollment. We bill electronically on the 25th of each month for however many classes your child takes per week.
Each lesson is 20 minutes long for children 2 and younger and 30 minutes long for children 3 and up. If your child is 2 and younger and can handle a 30 minute class, I will extend the time at my discretion.
Most of my student's swim with me 1 time a week. For parents who are considering infant survival (float) lessons, I require 2 classes per week until the goal is reached, and then 1 class per week after that. A mandatory safety checkout is required for children participating in float lessons. I do not recommend more than two classes per week for any child, as I believe in quality over quantity and a typical child can learn basic swimming skills amazingly fast as long as no past water trauma is present.
Unfortunately, we do not offer discounts.
We do not offer mobile lessons at your home , you come to us! We are centrally located in beautiful downtown Claremont, just south of The Village, and conveniently located between the 210, 10 and major highways. Our saltwater pool is heated to at least 90 degrees year-round!
Because of the nature of my classes, I do not teach two children at once, however I will split a 30-minute class into 2 15-minutes sessions. I do this frequently for parents with twins and multiple children. Because my classes are rigorous, most students do great in 15-minute classes and you will be surprised at how much they learn in such a short time.
I do not offer groups lessons, as I tailor each lesson to my student's individual needs. It is not possible to provide such personalized lessons in a group class.
The total number of lessons a student needs differs from child to child as each little human has their own personality and aquatic propensities. I cannot give an accurate answer to that question until I work with your student. Some children swim and float within the first lesson and others take a few months. I believe that learning how to swim is a marathon and not a sprint–a lifelong skill that needs to be nurtured and maintained.
I teach my lessons out of my private residence in Claremont, CA. This allows me and our staff to offer carte blanch service to our clients in a fully heated salt water pool.
I sure do! I have over two decades of experience in teaching students of all abilities! My youngest son is autistic, so I have been personally invested in the special needs community for the last 7 years.
Absolutely! We are so happy to offer a makeup with 24 hours notice.
Yes! Whether its your first time in the water or you're training for a triathlon, I can help you meet your goals. Adult swim lessons are not the same as children's swim classes and they shouldn't follow the same curriculum as a childs. I will tailor my class to exactly what you need to learn, as well as work through any water trauma or obstacles that might be holding you back.
All students must wear proper swim attire. Babies must wear a swim diaper (no regular diapers please!). Students with long hair need to have it secured away from the face. Although a swim cap isn't mandatory, it is preferred for swimmers who will be practicing laps. Goggles ARE permitted for advanced students only. Please refrain from dressing your child in swimwear with excessive fabric such as tutu's, mermaid fins, or superhero capes. If you or your child is prone to catching a chill, a full-body wetsuit is strongly encouraged.
I do teach babies! Infants and toddlers make up the majority of my students. You can start your child as soon as they're born! All I require is approval by your pediatrician if they are less than 6 months old.
I do! Unlike other infant survival courses, however, I teach at a slower, more gentle pace. I believe (and have proven) that a child can learn to roll over and float in a method that honors the child's feelings and body autonomy. I do not believe that learning how to roll and float should be a traumatic experience. Yes, tears may be involved, but they subside when the child and I build trust between us.
No! I do not charge more than one registration fee per family, EVER! The registration fee is a one-time fee and you will never be charged for it twice.
Absolutely! I never want my students (or their parents!) to be fearful or apprehensive in their swim class! I believe that parents know their children better than I do and if they feel that it is in the best interest of all parties involved for a parent or another loving guardian to be in the water with us during the lesson, it is more than welcomed--it is encouraged! And because each kiddo is different, you can join us for as many lessons as you like!
I try to never personally cancel class due to inclement weather (lightning and thunder are the only exceptions) however, per my inclement weather policy, I allow parents to reserve the right to cancel should health or safety reasons exist without penalty. If you choose to cancel your student's class due to inclement weather, a makeup token will be given but it must be redeemed within 3 months from date of issue. For the full inclement weather policy, please log in to your parent portal click on "Policies."
The registration fee is basically a commitment that says you will promise to attend--and will pay for--classes that we agreed upon. It’s a guarantee that we, in good faith, will hold up our respective ends of the business deal. Because I have a prepared a private location for you, it covers things like equipment/toys/tools/accommodations that I may need to teach your child and at least some payment for the time it took to arrange classes, send you forms, pay my assistant if she facilitated anything for us, etc., should you back out before classes start. As a one-person, single-mother, woman-owned business, it’s imperative that my clients understand that my time is valuable, just like theirs is! Almost every institution or small service-based business charges a registration fee for these very reasons. It is non-refundable.
These are pre-planned "no-swim" days. Because I teach 6 days a week, these days allow us to rest and do any routine maintenance, appointments, etc. You will be notified via email if your child has a "no-swim" day.
